Social Media Policy
Purpose
The Johnston County Board of Elections' social media policy will serve as a guideline for the use of Johnston County Board of Elections' sponsored social media accounts authorized by the Johnston County Director of Elections.
Intent
The Johnston County Board of Elections uses social media to provide timely information to the public about elections. Please note that Johnston County Board of Elections’ social media sites are moderated online sites, subject to North Carolina Public Records Laws and e-discovery laws and policies.
Account Responsibility
The Johnston County Board of Elections' social media accounts are to be managed by the Director of Elections. The Director shall oversee drafting content for social media platforms and approve posts. No content should be posted by or on behalf of the Johnston County Board of Elections to any social media account without review of the Director of Elections or designee and one other Johnston County Board of Elections' employee.

Johnston County Board of Elections' social media sites are not intended as a channel for users to contact the Johnston County Board of Elections or its staff. Johnston County Board of Elections' social media sites are to be set so the comment function is disabled and comments are disallowed.
