Community Survey - Comprehensive Trails and Greenways Plan
The Johnston County Parks and Open Space Department is working on a new plan, the Comprehensive Trails & Greenways Plan. This plan is a large-scale overview to identify pathways for future greenways, trails, bike paths, and access points. The department has been working on multiple feasibility studies over the last few years (Clayton to Smithfield Neuse River Trail and Smithfield to Benson East Coast Greenway) to identify the two major state trail alignments. This plan will incorporate those plans, plus municipal and state bike/pedestrian plans, to fill the gaps and create new alignments for our residents.
One of the first steps to this plan is community engagement and this is where the people of Johnston County can provide their input on how this plan should look. Below you will find the first component, which is a community survey. We want to hear from you about where you would like to see these new trail alignments and where you would like them to connect. This includes neighborhoods, retail/commercial, workplaces, schools, parks, downtowns, and anywhere in between.
The survey can be completed in less than 5 minutes and will provide us with valuable insight for crafting this plan. There will be more opportunities to engage with the department and this plan, but completing this survey is the starting point.

The deadline to complete the survey is March 25th by 5 PM.
Please let us know if you have any questions and please share this link; the more input, the better this plan turns out. Continue to view our website for more information on how you can engage with this plan.
