About the Johnston County Parks and Open Space Program
Johnston County Parks and Open Space Program was established in 2019 to add to the quality of life for families, groups, and individuals. Our main focus is to create highly engaging and versatile county parks, along with conserving natural open spaces to provide recreational access to all residents within the county. By concentrating our efforts on meeting the voiced demands and requests of the public, we can fill current and future needs through public outreach such as community meetings, evaluation tools, and partnership opinions.
Johnston County is a county that is quickly growing and changing from primarily rural to suburban over the course of the last two decades. Our efforts are grounded by this change and the overwhelming need for parks, greenways, and open space. With the future in mind, Johnston County Parks and Open Space is dedicated to improving the county's opportunities for community wellness and connectivity, while conserving the heritage and natural landscape.
Our Mission
Johnston County Parks and Open-Space Program is committed to the active preservation of open space that protects and maintains the natural and cultural landscape for the overall enrichment of the community.
