Anyone 18 and over, with a government-issued ID, can adopt a pet from the Johnston County Pet Adoption Center. You do not need to be a Johnston County resident. The fee is $125.00 for each animal, which includes a $100 deposit or voucher for spaying/neutering, a rabies shot, and micro chipping.
The Pet Adoption Center does require individuals adopting a pet to have the pet neutered or spayed. The Pet Adoption Center does not offer spaying and neutering services. The Shelter does offer a $100.00 voucher for spaying and neutering services with selected participating veterinarians, and we require that all pet owners have their pet neutered or spayed to reduce the number of animals in the County without homes.
To adopt a pet from the Shelter:
Call and schedule an appointment with the center during business hours (Mon-Fri, 1p.m. to 4:30p.m.)
Select an animal.
Come in and meet the animal and complete the brief paperwork.
Pay the fee.
Adoption Fees are Waived for Veterans. Spay / Neuter deposit/voucher fees still apply.
We welcome all inquiries and individuals interested in adopting a pet.
If you see an animal on our web pages that you are interested in, please contact the Shelter as soon as possible for an appointment.
