The Environmental Health office offers many programs to help protect and improve the public health of Johnston County through the enforcement of state rules and regulations. The division also offers many educational opportunities and public information meetings. The programs regulated by this office include:

    • On-site Septic Systems
    • Private drinking water wells
    • Public swimming pools and spas
    • Child care centers
    • Public and private schools
    • Tattoo establishments
    • Lodging establishments
    • Residential and primitive camps
    • Hospitals
    • Nursing homes and other institutions

Other services offered by this section include:

    • Children's lead poisoning prevention and investigations
    • Methamphetamine lab decontamination
    • Investigation of smoking complaints
